Snowy Mountains Lakes and Rivers Guided Fishing Trip
The Snowy Mountains and the Monaro are threaded with trout water, from the big storage lakes to the wild streams that feed them. This is my backyard, and there's a lifetime of fishing here for browns and rainbows.
The waters
Around the Snowies and the Monaro you've got rivers like the Eucumbene, the Thredbo, the Murrumbidgee, the Bobundra and the Moonbah, along with the big lakes. Each has its own character, from tumbling freestone runs to slower meadow streams winding through the tussock country.
I match the water to the season and the conditions so we're always fishing somewhere that's actually on.
How we fish it
On the streams it's fly fishing and spinning for wild trout, casting to likely water and to fish we can spot in the clear runs. The rivers hold genuinely wild browns and rainbows that live and breed in them, and they don't give themselves up easily.
The lakes open up fly, trolling and lure options when the rivers are high or coloured. There's always somewhere to fish.
Who it suits
This suits anglers who like a bit of variety and don't mind walking a riverbank. Whether you want to learn to read moving water or you're a keen stream fisher after wild fish, I'll set the day around you.
All gear is supplied and I know this country well after more than 40 years fishing it.
