Lake Eucumbene Guided Fishing Trip
Eucumbene is my home water, the big Snowy Mountains storage where I've spent more mornings than I can count chasing browns and rainbows. It fishes well on the fly and on the troll, and it's a fair place to learn or to catch up with an old favourite.
The water
Eucumbene is a large lake with a lot of moods. Long points, drowned trees and old creek beds give the fish plenty of places to hold, and the level moves a fair bit with the seasons. When it rises into the flooded grass margins, the browns come right in to feed, and that's some of the best fishing you'll find anywhere.
I know where the fish sit as the water shifts through the year, so we spend our time on the parts that are actually firing rather than covering dead water.
How we fish it
In spring I love working the edges for tailing browns, casting to fish you can see feeding hard in the shallows. Through the warmer months it's midge and mudeye patterns early and late, and I run the boat quietly so we don't put them down.
When the fly isn't the go, trolling covers ground and puts a bend in the rod. Lure casting off the points and around the timber works well too. We match the method to the day.

Eucumbene suits everyone from first-timers to keen fly anglers wanting a crack at a big margin brown. All gear is supplied and the boat is AMSA surveyed, so you just turn up ready to fish.
Half a day or a full day, I'll tailor it to what you want to get out of it.
