Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about a guided trout fishing trip with Troutfit Guiding. Still have a question? Get in touch and Mick will happily help.
Not at all. We guide complete beginners through to experienced anglers. If you are new to it, Mick will teach you casting, how to read the water and the techniques that work on the day, so you learn while you fish. If you are experienced, we focus on putting you onto fish and fine tuning your approach.
Our home waters are Lake Eucumbene, Lake Jindabyne and the surrounding rivers of the Snowy Mountains in NSW. During summer we also guide in the Central Highlands of Tasmania on waters such as Great Lake, Arthurs Lake and Penstock Lagoon. Get in touch for current dates and availability.
Yes. We run guided fly fishing as well as trolling and lure casting for trout. Whether you want to learn to fly cast, sight fish the shallows, or cover water while trolling with lead core and downrigging, we tailor the day to what you want to do and what the fish are doing.
Different seasons suit different styles of fishing, and both the Snowy Mountains and Tasmania fish well across the warmer months. The best dates depend on conditions and what you would like to target, so contact us and we will help you choose a time that suits.
Yes. You will need a current recreational fishing licence for the state we are fishing, a NSW licence in the Snowy Mountains or an inland angling licence in Tasmania. These are quick and easy to arrange online, and we are happy to point you in the right direction when you book.
Absolutely. Trolling in particular is a relaxed, productive way to fish and works well for families and mixed ability groups, while our fly fishing tuition is ideal for anyone wanting to learn. Let us know who is coming along and we will shape the day to suit.
The easiest way is to contact Mick directly by phone or through the contact page on this website. Let us know your preferred dates, how many anglers, and the style of fishing you are after, and we will get you sorted.
