Flyfishing charters with Troutfit Guiding

A flyfishing charter with Troutfit Guiding puts you on some of the best trout water in the country with a guide who fishes it all season. Based in Cooma, we run guided fly fishing on Lake Eucumbene, Lake Jindabyne and the rivers that feed the Snowy Mountains, and we head south to Tasmania's Central Highlands when the fishing calls for it.

Every charter is shaped around you. Tell us what you want from the day and we will match the water, the technique and the pace to suit, whether you are chasing your first trout on fly or refining skills you already have.

What a charter day looks like

We meet you on the water and take care of the fishing side from there. On the lakes we work the shallow margins, wind lanes and bays for cruising browns and rainbows, and on the rivers we read the runs and pools and cover feeding fish. Along the way we talk you through what we are seeing, why we are fishing where we are, and how to give yourself the best chance.

The day moves at a pace that suits your group. There is time to slow down, watch the water and learn, and time to fish hard when the conditions line up.

Gear and tuition provided

You do not need your own equipment to join a charter. We supply quality fly rods, reels, lines and flies, so all you need to bring is suitable clothing, sun protection and a keenness to fish. If you have your own gear you are welcome to use it and we can help you get the most out of it.

Tuition is part of every charter. We coach you through fly casting, presentation and fly selection, and teach the water craft that makes the difference. You will learn to read water, spot and stalk fish, and understand how trout behave on both still water and moving water.

Suitable for all levels

Our charters suit complete beginners through to experienced anglers. First-timers leave with real skills and, more often than not, a trout to remember. Seasoned fly anglers get local knowledge, good water and a guide who knows where the fish hold through the season.
